Program Highlights

• Alumni will provide career mentoring help to students through the website's message board. http://nitkforum.org/smf.
• Several message boards have been created for various topics.
• There is a feedback board to accept ideas on the mentoring program and what students would like to see in this program.
• Students are welcome to explore deeper career relationships with the alumni and take their help in finding internships, jobs and the like.

Whats in it for the students?

• Students, who want to do their masters will find alumni from various schools, who can give them insightful perspectives on the school and the masters programs - what school to apply for, how to prepare for GRE, how to contact professors, recommendations etc.
• Students, who want to do their MBAs, can also find appropriate mentors who will advice them on the available options on doing their MBAs - what kind of jobs, placements, schools, recos, extracurricular activities they must focus on etc.
• Students, who are looking to take up jobs will find an incredible amount of inside information and experience at their disposal. What kind of jobs are good for your final career goals, what aspects of a job title/position should you look at apart from salary that will do you long term goal. How to think ahead on career decisions and career moves etc.

Whats in it for the alumni?

• We get to talk to current students and relive our NITK experiences.
• Many alumni like mentoring students and find it rewarding to help.
• We get an insight into India's job markets - what companies are hiring, what positions they are looking for?
• We get an insight into the school - how is it functioning, what are the professors doing?
• We might even get recruits from NITK for our company offices in India.

Students' Alumni Club

• This is an alumni task force.
• This association will help alumni implement its programs for the NITK students and form a valuable interface with the college.
• Club performs activities like inviting prominent alumni to come and talk to the students. Support like basic arrangements for their stay (help reserve the college guest house), welcoming them, talking to director/dean about inviting alumni over, publicizing their talks, reserving a lecture hall for them to speak etc.)

Whats in it for students who form the club?

• Opportunity to lead an organization to put on your resume.
• A fine excuse to talk to many alumni who have done some real cool things in their careers, when you invite alumni to the college.
• Close proximity to the alumni - probably more than any other student. This will start you up on a really good business network that will help you in your careers.
